HANAWALT NAMED TO INDIANA ALL-STAR TEAM

Wildcat Fans,

Despite a less than ideal race from the 'Cats, Jake Hanawalt's 31st place finish at the IHSAA State Finals this past Saturday was good enough to earn him a spot on the Indiana Cross Country All-Star Team.  Jake will be running in the Mid-East Meet of Champions to be held next Saturday in Kettering, OH.  Jake finishes the season as the 7th fastest cross country runner in school history and only the third Wildcat to be named to the Indiana All-Stars in XC.

The Wildcats ended their season with a 10th place finish at the State Finals.  This put them 140-24 on the season, the 7th best record in school history.  Four Wildcats put themselves on the top 30 all-time lists including three in the top 10.  Joe Murphy's mark of 15:32 was good enough to take the #2 all-time spot along with making him the #2 Senior all-time.  Ethan Hoeft's mark of 15:41 puts him #6 all-time and the #2 Junior.  The team's best top-5 team time was set at the Semi-State, where they ran a combined 80:26, making them the third fastest team in school history.

Congratulations 'Cats on another incredible season.  Thank you for all of your hard work and determination this year.  We are all looking forward to another year of Wildcat XC as the 'Cats will try to follow in this Senior class' footsteps and return to the State Meet in 2014.

GO CATS!

WILDCATS QUALIFY FOR STATE MEET!

Wildcat Fans,

The 'CATS finished runners-up at the Carmel Semi-State this Saturday and qualified for the state finals for the 8th time in school history.  They were led by the impressive third and fourth place finishes for Junior Ethan Hoeft and Senior Jake Hanawalt.  Hoeft's time of 15:41 is a :03 second improvement over his personal best and moves him up to #6 All-Time in LNXC history.  Hanawalt's mark of 15:42 was also a PR and puts him tied for #7 in program history.  The Wildcats posted a team time of 80:26 which is the third fastest team time in school history.

The Wildcats have been third at the state meet twice in school history (2000 and 2010) and will be racing to become the first team in school history to finish either as champions or runners-up.  They will toe the line next Saturday, November 2nd, in Terre Haute.  For more information about the IHSAA State Finals please visit www.ihsaa.org.

WILDCATS QUALIFY FOR SEMI-STATE

Wildcat Fans,

The 'Cats were runners-up at the highly anticipated Brebeuf Regional last Saturday.  Led by a sixth place finish from senior Jake Hanawalt, the 'Cats managed to qualify for the Semi-State for the first time since 2010.  That year the Wildcats went on to finish a close third at the state meet.  Also scoring for the 'Cats were Senior Joe Murphy (7th), Junior Ethan Hoeft (9th), Junior TJ Jerger (37th) and Junior Wyatt Spencer (45th).  This was Spencer's first race in a Varsity Singlet for the Wildcats and he responded with a break out performance.  Spencer was awarded the coveted "Golden Hammer" award by the coaches after the meet.  The Wildcats will return to action this coming Saturday at Northview Christian Church in Carmel.  The top 6 teams from the Semi-State will advance to the State Finals on November 2nd in Terre Haute, IN.

MURPHY WINS MIC TITLE

Wildcat Fans,

The Wildcats finished third at the MIC Championships as a team and were lead by an impressive win by Joe Murphy.  Joe's time of 15:35 nearly matches his fastest this season of 15:32.  Joe becomes the first Wildcat to capture the MIC title since LNXC legend, Nef Araia won the crown in 2003.  After convincing wins at 1600m and 800m last spring, this win finishes a "triple crown" at MIC competition for Murphy in 2013.

Congrats to Joe and the Wildcats for another strong showing at the MIC championships.  On to the tournament!
