WILDCATS CAPTURE 3rd PLACE FINISH AT STATE MEET!

Wildcat Fans,
Yesterday, the Wildcats toed the line in Terre Haute for the 2010 edition of the IHSAA State Championships in Cross Country. To cap off what was one of the fastest seasons in LNXC History, the Cat's tied the programs best finish by taking 3rd behind Champions Columbus North and Runners-Up Noblesville. This has been one of the most competitive years in Indiana Cross Country history. Finishing 3rd among such a field speaks volumes to the ability for this team to "step up" when it counted most.
The Cat's were led by an All-State finish by Senior Scott Stanley (24th). Fellow Senior Josh Roche finished just outside of All-State honors in 27th. Will Hogston held our front pack together by finishing a strong 30th. Zach Mahone was the second best #4 man on the day with a finish of 52nd. And having a HUGE day was Junior Greg Scofield finishing 113th and keeping our final scoring position close enough to other teams for our front running to be the difference. Also competing for the Cat's were Sophomore Adam Oldham (142nd) and Ty Williams (158th).
CONGRATULATIONS ON A GREAT SEASON CATS!!!!

Wildcats County Runners-up

Wildcat Fans,

Yesterday on the Varsity Scene, the Wildcats ran the fastest team time ever run at Brebeuf. Over the course of LNXC History, the Cats have won four county titles, nine sectional titles and six regional titles; all of those meets were held at Brebeuf. Going into Saturday the fastest Wildcat XC team to run on the Brebeuf Course was the 2004 County championship team in a time of 81:18. At the time the Cats posted that time, they were ranked #1 in the State. Yesterday, the Cats posted a team time of 80:53, nearly :30 faster than 2004! That is good enough for the #5 team time all-time and the fastest any LN team has run on a course other than the lightning fast Southeastway Park.

Also making history was Senior Scott Stanley. Adding another outstanding performance to his storied senior campaign, Scott took 5th place in a time of 15:40. That was good enough for the #4 all-time 5k and was just :02 away from holding the #2 time, all-time. Congrats to Scott for overcoming great adversity and having one of the strongest Senior campaigns in LN history!

Marion County Championships - The Future

Wildcat Fans,

Yesterday we got a taste of what to expect in years to come as the injury laden LNXC Freshmen showed off their depth and took second at the Marion County Championships. The Cats were led by Freshman standout Joe Murphy, who placed 4th in a time of 13:33. He was then followed by the daring duo of Jake Hannawalt and Colin Achgill both taking all-conference honors as well. Finishing out the top 5 were Adam Noens and Robel Teklezghi. Congratulations guys! This is just the beginning!

Elsewhere, the Bearcats of Fall Creek Valley (Now the exclusive feeder Middle School to LN) won the Marion County Middle School Championship. Led by the individual champion, Chase LaBonne, the Bearcats won by a stunning 39 pts over a strong New Augusta squad. The Bearcats also boasted the top 7th grade finisher, Jaylen McKay, who finished 7th overall and third for FCV. For more on the Bearcats season visit www.fcvxc.com.

Congratulations are in order for current and future Wildcats alike!
