'CATS WIN DANVILLE HOKUM-KAREM FOR SECOND YEAR IN A ROW

Wildcat Fans,

For the second consecutive year the Wildcats took home the t-shirts at the Danville Hokum-Karem.  The team was led by a pair of Seniors as the team of Joe Murphy and Jake Hanawalt won the six-mile relay in commanding fashion.  The 'Cats were down two varsity runners and relied on some new faces to the Varsity Line-up for big performances.  Junior TJ Jerger and Sophomore Matt Hoskins answered the call leading their pairs to 7th and 9th place finishes respectively.  In the JV race the Wildcats were led up front by Junior transfer Wyatt Spencer, whose third place finish shows he is someone to watch for in coming weeks as he is a threat to make the Varsity roster.
The Wildcats open up their 5,000m racing season on Saturday, September 7th at the Lafayette Harrison Invitational.

BOY'S 4X800M RELAY FINISHES FOURTH

Wildcat Fans,

This past Friday May 31st the Wildcats finished fourth at the IHSAA State Finals in the 4x800m relay.  The team of Ethan Hoeft (10), Robel Tekelzghi (11), Joey Khamis (12) and Joe Murphy (11) ran an outstanding time of 7:49.94 which puts them the fourth all-time relay in Lawrence North History.  Also, school record holder Joe Murphy finished fourth in the 800m.  Earlier in the tournament, Joe's mark of 1:52.99 broke the existing school record set by Indiana University Sophomore and NCAA Championship bound Josh Roche of 1:53.54.

The lone Senior on the relay, Joey Khamis, closes out his career as one of LN's most consistent performers.  His marks of 16:03 for Cross Country and 4:21 for 1600m put him #15 all-time at 5K and #8 all-time at 1600m.  Congratulations Joey on a GREAT CAREER as a Wildcat!

Marion County Championships

Wildcat Fans,

The #10 Wildcats finished a very close second place at the Marion County Championships on Saturday.  Despite toeing the line without stand-out Senior Joey Khamis in the line-up, the 'Cats showed their depth by running the 20th fastest team time in school history and falling just short of their first County title since 2004.  The 'Cats had four all-county individuls; Ethan Hoeft (5th), Joe Murphy (9th), Jake Hanawalt (12th) and Adam Oldham (15th).

In Freshman Championship race the Wildcats lost another close race with the Bears of LC and to take Third.  They were led by two all-county freshman finishes; Matt Hoskins (5th) and Jonathan Dean (13th).  Likewise, the Bearcats of Fall Creek Valley won their FOURTH consecutive Marion County title.  The 'Cats were lead by three outstanding future Wildcats; Kyle Harris (10:29-3rd), Will Reid (10:38-5th), Alex Cordoso (10:41-7th).

What a great weekend to be a Wildcat...
